Historical Background:

A small collection of survey papers from various sources. A major portion of the collection is believed to be the papers of  R.J. Brown; a resident of Bolton, NY, local surveyor and former county engineer. These papers were placed with the Warren County Clerk's Office for safekeeping.

Description of Record Series:

This small series includes handwritten notes, field notes, correspondence, deeds, surveys and small maps. They are arranged alphabetically by subject, the subject in most cases is the name of the patent, tract of land, lot or location. Within each subject folder are numbered paper folios separating the individual papers. There are three indexes for this series: Tract or Location index, Geographic Index and Personal Name Index. Subjects within this record series include: Abeel Patent, Barber Patent, Bolton Road Survey, Campbell, Dartmouth, Davis, Faxon, Ford & Robinson, Fort William Henry, French Mountain Tract, Garland, Garrison Ground, Gilchrist, Houghton, Hyde Township, Irish, Kennedy Patent, Knapp, Lake George Tract, Lake George - Long Island, Lake George Plum Point, Lake George Vista, Luzerne Tract, Mc Gillis, Mc Phillips, Mount Hope Iron, North West Bay, Orvis, Parker, Porters Patent, Rising House Hotel, Shonnards Patent, South Gore, Swan Brothers, Smith-Hammond, Tongue Mountain Tract, Totten & Crossfield (3 Gores), Tuttle, Wheeler-Douglass Patent, Whitehall USGS Survey and miscellaneous papers.
