Warren County, CSEA reach new 4-year labor contract

newsupdate

The Warren County Board of Supervisors announced October 3, 2024 that Civil Service Employees Association Local 857 has reached a four-year collective bargaining agreement with the county.

The contract will run from January 1, 2024 through December 31, 2027. It was reached after independent mediation and fact-finding sessions that occurred earlier this year, and the Warren County Board of Supervisors unanimously voted to approve it on Thursday, October 3, 2024.

Warren County Board of Supervisors Chairman Kevin Geraghty said: “We are pleased to have reached this agreement with our CSEA partners. It provides salaries that allow Warren County to remain competitive within the public and private sectors, and includes healthcare premium changes that will help keep costs in line for taxpayers. We thank the CSEA for working with us to reach a contract that is fair to all involved, and I want to personally thank our employees for the jobs they do for Warren County taxpayers. They are on the front line every day providing essential services.”

Marla Norton, President of CSEA Local 857, said: “CSEA's focus during contract negotiations has been on improving the future, not just for our membership, but for the communities across the county that many of us call home. We believe this agreement furthers the steps CSEA began in 2022, and we look forward to a continued partnership with the county, building on the shared vision that county employment is a long-term, career choice and not a steppingstone.”

Highlights of the contract include:

  • Wage increases – the contract includes wage increases of 2.85% in 2024, 3.00% in 2025, 3.25% in 2026 and 3.50% in 2027. Retroactive payments will be made for 2024.
  • Health insurance premium contributions – the contract will bring all CSEA members up to 25% health insurance premium contributions as of 2025. All employees hired since 2012 have been contributing at the 25% level.
  • Increased meal allowances for eligible employees.
  • Adds Juneteenth as a holiday for all county employees.

CSEA Local 857 represents 208 of Warren County’s 782 full- and part-time employees. In all, 344-union eligible employees are covered by the new labor agreement.
