Warren County has a new airport manager who is excited to oversee the airfield in Queensbury as it grows as an asset to the region.
Robin Mapp is a native of Barbados who comes to Warren County Airport after a stint as airport operations security coordinator at Aspen/Pitkin County Airport in Aspen, Colorado.
He has also worked at airports in Portland, Oregon and Barbados before coming to Warren County to start his new job in late April.
“Professionally, I have enjoyed a variety of roles at various levels and organizations within
the aviation industry,” Mapp explained.
Mapp said he has been impressed with Warren County Airport’s facilities and people.
“Everyone has been so friendly. It’s a great community,” he said.
Mapp said he is “committed to what I refer to as ‘the 3 S’s of Aviation’ -- Safety, Security, and Service.”
Also a priority is to “work to ensure the facility is as self-sufficient as possible in order to provide the incredible service to the community without draining valuable financial resources.”
Mapp is married and the father of a 9-year-old. He is also part of the way toward a pilot license, with hopes to complete his training here in Warren County.
He replaces Don DeGraw, who took a job at an airport in Florida earlier this year.
“We are excited to have a new airport manager with Robin’s experience and energy,” said Rachel Seeber, Chairwoman of the Warren County Board of Supervisors. “We are very optimistic about the future of our fine airport and its ability to aid our business community, and we believe Robin will play a big role in the success we see on the horizon at Warren County Airport.”
Warren County Airport, also known as Floyd Bennett Memorial Airport, has seen development of four new hangars in recent years and construction of a new building to house snow removal equipment is ongoing.
