WARRENSBURG, NY – Mental health continues to be a misunderstood topic by many. Warren County Health Services and Ascend Mental Wellness are partnering to try to change that with a “Mental Health 101” community discussion Tuesday, September 24, 2024 to help educate the public about mental health issues and local options for assistance.
The event will be held in the auditorium at Richards Library, 36 Elm Street, Warrensburg, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. This will be the third of the agencies’ “Mental Health 101” programs in 2024, mirroring events held in Queensbury and Chestertown earlier this year.
In addition to a presentation from experts, the event will include a number of community organizations that will have information available about their services, including mental health services.
The program will provide:
• An overview of how mental health impacts overall health
• The differences between mental health and mental illness
• How to recognize signs and symptoms of poor mental health
• Treatment and support options
Said Danielle Weiss, Director of Support Services at Ascend Mental Wellness, “Nearly one in five people will experience mental illness in their lifetime. However, everyone faces challenges in their life that can impact their mental health and well-being. Thanks to Warren County Public Health, I can help educate our community so no one feels alone with their experiences and can gain resources and support options about getting the help they or someone they care about may need.”
