Warren County ‘Spring Zing’ fish hatchery event returns

Open house, clinics, giveaways and more at Warren County Fish Hatchery May 13

WARRENSBURG, NY – After a three-year hiatus, the annual Warren County Fish Hatchery open house/fishing clinic known as Spring Zing is returning for 2023!

The staff at Warren County Fish Hatchery has organized a fun-filled day of fish-themed fun, with clinics, prizes, demonstrations, free food and more at the hatchery in Warrensburg.

Best of all, thanks to our generous sponsors, Spring Zing is free!

“We hear from so many people who missed Spring Zing the last few years, and we are so thankful for our sponsors who are helping us bring it back. It’s always a great time for kids and adults, particularly if you are a fisherman or woman, or if you are someone who wants to learn to fish,” said Dean Moore, Warren County Director of Parks, Recreation & Railroad.

Tours of the trout-rearing operation at the county hatchery on Echo Lake Road will be offered, while there will be fishing clinics, fly tying demonstrations, discussion of stream entomology and more. Fishing gear that has been donated by sponsors will be raffled off.

A free hot dog lunch will be available between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.

For more information, call the hatchery staff at 518-623-2877.

Warren County Department of Parks, Recreation & Railroad offers a hearty thank you to our Spring Zing sponsors – Warren County Soil & Water Conservation District, Trout Unlimited, Warren County/Cornell Cooperative 4H, Nemec’s Sports Shop, The Crossroads Country Store & Sport Shop, Dunkley’s Outdoor Adventures, Warren County Conservation Council, The Nature Conservancy, NYS DEC Conservation Officers, Chris Styles and the Warren County Sheriff’s Office.
