Warren County Municipal Center is now home to a memorial honoring Warren County residents who died of #COVID19 after a moving ceremony Tuesday morning, April 13. A sugar maple tree was planted in memory of the one-year anniversary of Warren County's first COVID death.
A sign with the tree reads, "May this tree stand as an everlasting tribute to those we lost during the COVID-19 pandemic." Warren County employees and local dignitaries helped finalize the planting with shovels full of dirt.
The Warren County Board of Supervisors, Warren County NY Public Health, Warren/Hamilton Counties Office for the Aging, Senator Dan Stec, Assemblyman Matt Simpson, Board of Supervisors Chairwoman Rachel Seeber, Warren County Health Services Director Ginelle Jones, Warren County Administrator Ryan Moore, Jacob Miller from Congresswoman Elise Stefanik's office and Stony Creek Supervisor Frank Thomas all participated and talked of the past year of the pandemic, and how those we lost will not be forgotten.
A special thank you to Warren County Soil and Water Conservation District for the tree donation, and Warren County DPW for the sign!
