The Warren County Board of Supervisors on Friday, February 16, 2024, appointed Christina Mastrianni to a five-year term as Warren County Commissioner of Social Services.
Mastrianni had been serving as Acting Commissioner of Social Services of Warren County since September 2023, when former Commissioner Christian Hanchett retired. She had served as Deputy Commissioner during Hanchett’s tenure, beginning in December 2018.
Mastrianni has worked for Warren County Department of Social Services since April 2009, starting as a social welfare examiner before promotions through the ranks to Deputy Commissioner.
Her tenure with Warren County DSS has included extensive work collaborating with multiple state agencies working on child welfare, foster care and adoption programs as well as oversight of Warren County’s Countryside Adult Home.
Commissioner Mastrianni said: “I am extremely proud and honored to serve Warren County and our agency as the Commissioner of Social Services. Throughout my career with the Department of Social Services, I have learned from so many. I truly appreciate our compassionate team that is dedicated to the mission of the department. I look forward to continuing the momentum of improving programmatic outcomes, advancing social services initiatives, and collaborating with county leaders and organizations in supporting the well-being of our community.”
Warren County Administrator John Taflan noted that Commissioner Mastrianni has proved herself as a leader within the Department of Social Services while serving as Deputy Commissioner and Acting Commissioner.
Administrator Taflan said: “We are gratified to have an individual with Commissioner Mastrianni’s experience and leadership skills to take the reins at Warren County Department of Social Services. She has shown that she is innovative and passionate about her work, and we are excited to continue building on our already strong Department of Social Services staff and programs during Commissioner Mastrianni’s tenure.”
Mastrianni is a graduate of Adirondack Community College (now known as SUNY Adirondack) and Empire State College who lives in Warren County with her family.
