Countryside Adult Home to get $4.6 million in capital improvements
WARRENSBURG, NY – Countryside Adult Home, owned and operated by Warren County, is getting $4.6 million in capital improvements to address structural needs and make the facility more modern for residents and staff.
Countryside, a 48-bed home on Schroon River Road in Warrensburg, will get a makeover that will address building structure issues and improve the building’s efficiency, air quality and appearance, issues that were identified in an engineering assessment completed in 2019. The project will also include the addition of air conditioning.
The total project tab stands at $4,662,976, which takes into account material and labor costs that have risen amid supply chain and workforce issues. Warren County Planning and Community Development has secured $1.3 million in state grant funding to supplement Warren County funding that has been designated for the project.
The building’s roof, doors and windows are to be replaced, while plumbing and electrical improvements will occur as well.
$1.2 million of the project funding will be used for air filtration improvements, bringing the building’s filtration to the MERV-13 standard recommended to combat spread of COVID-19. $950,000 of federal stimulus funding through the American Rescue Plan Act will be used for HVAC improvements that include MERV-13 filtration.
Construction is scheduled to begin in late 2022.
Amy McByrne, Director of Countryside Adult Home, said: “We are very excited about the impact this work will have. Our care here for residents at Countryside Adult Home has always been superb, and with these improvements our facility will be top-notch as well.”
Said Kevin Geraghty, Warrensburg Supervisor and Chairman of the Warren County Board of Supervisors: “Countryside Adult Home provides vital services to our seniors, and Warren County’s investment in our adult home will improve the lives of those who live and work at Countryside for years to come.”
Said Christian Hanchett, Warren County Department of Social Services Commissioner: “ To see this exciting initiative come to life is exciting! Many have put long hours into this project over the last few years. Thanks to Wayne LaMothe and his Planning Staff, Kevin Hajos and his staff, and to Deputy Commissioner Mastrianni and Director McBryne for their work on this as well. The Board of Supervisors (members both past and present) should also be applauded for supporting this project as it will ensure a much improved facility for both the residents and staff alike. ”
