Warren County to hold first public meeting on proposed septic law
Forum will start process to look at possible requirement for septic inspections
WARREN COUNTY, NY-- The Warren County Board of Supervisors’ newly created committee charged with reviewing a proposal to require septic system inspections when a property is sold will meet for the first time on Thursday, July 15th.
The Proposed Septic Inspection at Transfer Special Committee will hold its session after a meeting of a Board of Supervisors committee that is reviewing Warren County’s ethics financial disclosure form. The meetings start at noon.
The Proposed Septic Inspection at Transfer Special Committee will gauge feedback from stakeholders before making recommendations to the Warren County Board of Supervisors about whether a law should be created that would require inspection of septic systems near certain waterways when a property is sold or otherwise changes owners. The creation of such a law has been under review by the Board of Supervisors since 2019.
Rachel Seeber, Chairwoman of the Warren County Board of Supervisors, created the new subcommittees to review the septic and ethics form issues during the June 16th meeting of the Board of Supervisors.
“Protecting the health of our waterways is an immensely important issue in Warren County,” Chairwoman Seeber said. “Our goal is to have open dialogue with the public and with experts in our community as we develop a draft Warren County law on this issue to be discussed in September at our full Board of Supervisors workshop meeting. We look forward to significant progress in addressing this important initiative.“
Committee breakdowns:
- Glens Falls 3rd Ward Supervisor Claudia Braymer is chairwoman of the Proposed Septic Inspection at Transfer Special Committee, with supervisors Brad Magowan, Edna Frasier, Daniel, Bruno, Craig Leggett, Sylvia Smith and Andrea Hogan serving on the special committee as well.
- Glens Falls 1st Ward Supervisor Jack Diamond was chosen to chair the Ethics Financial Disclosure Form Special Committee, with supervisors Daniel Bruno, Claudia Braymer, Craig Leggett and Kevin Geraghty rounding out the committee.
