Up Yonda Farm to host 'Trunk or Treat' on October 28

BOLTON – Up Yonda Farm Environmental Education Center’s free “Trunk or Treat” Halloween celebration is returning later this month with a variety of fun activities and at least 20 Trick-or-Treat stations for kids!

The annual Up Yonda “Trunk or Treat” event in Bolton has been scheduled on Saturday, October 28th, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. There will be plenty of goodies for costumed little ones, as well as pumpkin decorating, wildlife exhibitions and free books.

Dress up in your Halloween best and Trick-or-Treat among decorated vehicles, decorate your own pumpkin, and check out wildlife exhibitions that will include a live raptor display. This event is open to all ages.

The local organizations that have committed to decorating vehicle trunks for treats so far include Bolton Fire Company’s Ladies Auxiliary, Bolton Fire Company, Bolton Community Church, Bolton Emergency Medical Services, Bolton Police Department and Bolton Central School PTO.

In addition, the Bolton Free Library Board of Trustees will be handing out books, Friends of Up Yonda Farm will offer pumpkin decorating and representatives of Silent Wings Raptor Rehab and Education Program will bring their raptors for viewing.

Up Yonda staff continue to accept registration requests from those who would like to decorate their vehicle trunk for the event. Those applications are being accepted through October 14  on a first-come, first-served basis. Donations of candy, pre-packaged snacks, or prizes for the best decorated trunk contest are also being accepted.

Up Yonda Farm was donated to Warren County in 1997 by Alice and John Scott and has been running programs for schools and families since then. The staff offers programs all year, and a variety of special events through the year, including a Maple Festival in the spring, along with a natural history museum and a popular turtle exhibit in the Welcome Center.
