Watch Warren County/DEC discussion on caterpillar tree damage

map
We had a great turnout Thursday, September 23rd at our public meeting with Warren County Soil and Water Conservation District and NYS Department of Environmental Conservation to help residents figure out the best ways to deal with gypsy moth caterpillar issues that led to tree defoliation this spring. If you missed it, you can watch the video on our YouTube page.

DEC Forester/arborist Rob Cole and SWCD Manager Jim Lieberum provided some great information about the caterpillars, moths and egg sacks, with numerous tips to preemptively help with potential problems next year as well as a general overview of the problems these caterpillars have caused around the state.

“This past year was eye-opening for many people in our county and region, and this presentation will provide some understanding of this insect, its affects and what may be anticipated for next year and beyond,” Lieberum explained.

The 90-minute meeting was livestreamed and the archived video can be found on our Warren County video page here to watch at your convenience.
