Warren County, Six Flags team up for celebration of tourism workers

Free night at amusement park scheduled for Sept. 12th

WARREN COUNTY, NY -- Warren County Employment & Training Administration wants our hospitality and tourism workers to celebrate a summer of hard work with an evening of fun and awards at Six Flags Great Escape!

Six Flags and Warren County Employment & Training have teamed up to offer a free night at the amusement park, featuring select free rides, snacks and awards Monday, September 12th for the workers who are the backbone of our tourism industry.

Employees in the industries of Hospitality, Tourism and Retail in Warren County are invited to attend the event, which will run from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Please note that registration is required for those who want to attend, and registration can be done at https://qrco.de/bdHWJA. Registration is required by Friday, September 9th.

In addition, employers and supervisors are strongly encouraged to nominate their employees for awards that will be given out in six different categories, ranging from Excellence in Customer Service to Sales Extraordinaire. Nominations can be made by supervisors at https://form.jotform.com/222375337013146.

Organizers hope to make this celebration an annual event.

Liza Ochsendorf, Director of Warren County Employment & Training Administration, said: “While the workforce shortage continues indefinitely due to changing demographics and residuals from the pandemic, it is imperative that we celebrate the employees we do have and go the extra mile to retain them. Furthermore, New York State owes the federal government an estimated $7 billion dollars of unemployment insurance debt, so there has never been a better time for  all workers to stay in the workforce this winter and not take unemployment. Our local businesses will benefit greatly from a robust workforce this winter as the Lake George region transitions to a year-round economy. This event will help us recognize the efforts and skills of our workforce and promote our 365-day-a-year tourism economy.”

Rebecca Wood, Resort President of Six Flags Great Escape Theme Park and Lodge, said, “We are thrilled to support Warren County and take part in celebrating our most important asset, our people. The seasonal workforce is the engine of our operation and key to delivering the world class experience that guests deserve in our beautiful region. This is a fantastic way to recognize the best of the best and highlight all of the amazing positions that continue to be available throughout the rest of the seasons.”

To top it off, this special recognition event will benefit a local charity.

Workers attending the event may bring one guest for a $5.00 entry fee, and the proceeds from this fee will benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Southern Adirondacks!

Bill Moon, Chief Executive Officer of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Southern Adirondacks, said:  “Thank you to Six Flags Great Escape and Warren County's workforce for including Big Brothers Big Sisters and making a donation to our community's children of today, who will become our workforce of tomorrow."

Don’t miss this great opportunity to have some fun with your colleagues as a thank you for all you did during our busiest season!
