Warren County Department of Workforce Development's third annual Tourism Summer Workforce Celebration drew nearly 350 people from more than 50 local businesses to Six Flags Great Escape the night of Monday, September 9 for a free night at the amusement park to thank workers for another successful summer.
Rides, food, prizes, games and music made for a great night to celebrate the workers who are the backbone of our tourism and retail industries.
In addition to amusement park fun, awards were given out tourism leaders and workers who were nominated by their peers for going above and beyond during the busy season, and Rachel Poladian from Marine Village Resort was chosen for the Frank Dittrich Award for tourism management leadership, named in memory of the late Inn at Erlowest General Manager.
Stephen Potvin of Sans Souci was named "emerging leader," while 12 other awards were also given out for team spirit, patience, excellence in customer service, sales proficiency and for promotion of the Lake George area, prizes including overnight stays at local resorts. More than a dozen other prizes were raffled off to those in attendance as well.
To top it off, donations and $5 ticket sales for those who wanted to bring a guest raised about $1,000 for Family Services Association of Glens Falls.
Mark your calendars for the Summer Workforce Celebration in 2025, as the event will become a fixture during the week following Adirondack Nationals Car Show.
