Warren County Supervisor named to NYSAC climate action committee
WARREN COUNTY, NY -- The New York State Association of Counties (NYSAC) has announced that Glens Falls 3rd Ward Supervisor Claudia Braymer has been appointed to the newly created statewide NYSAC Climate Action Standing Committee.
Supervisor Braymer’s selection was announced February 9th by NYSAC President Martha Saurbrey.
The bipartisan NYSAC Standing Committee was created in December, and will discuss ways to address climate change in New York and identify county opportunities to work collaboratively toward creating more resilient communities.
The committee will also generate and collect concerns and recommendations from county departments that will be affected by climate change and engage local government and the state to work together to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and protect residents from climate change impacts.
“I'm honored to be part of NYSAC's Climate Action Standing Committee because stopping the problems caused by climate change is critically important for our entire state,” Braymer noted. “I have already authored a proposed NYSAC resolution asking New York State to provide more technical planning and funding assistance to county governments that are on the forefront of responding to the impacts of a changing climate and building more resiliency into our natural and built infrastructures.”

The committee will next meet at the March 14-16, 2022 NYSAC Legislative Conference.
Braymer, an attorney who practices environmental law, is serving her fourth term on the Warren County Board of Supervisors.
