The former West Brook Road in Lake George is now officially Elizabeth O'Connor Little Boulevard after a moving ceremony Wednesday to honor our former state senator.
The Village of Lake George asked Warren County, which owns the road that runs between Canada Street and Beach Road, to rename the road in honor of Little, who retired at the end of 2020 after 25 years in the New York State Legislature.
Before she was elected to the New York State Assembly and then the Senate, Betty was a Warren County Supervisor who represented Queensbury.
Dignitaries from around the state and region, including Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul, Little's Senate replacement, Sen. Dan Stec, Assemblyman Matt Simpson, Warren County Board of Supervisors Chairwoman Rachel Seeber and Glens Fall Mayor Dan Hall, spoke to thank Betty for her years of service to the Lake George Region.
Lake George Mayor Robert Blais, who brought the road renaming idea to Warren County, acted as master of ceremonies on a beautiful May day, next to Charles Wood Park.
A plaque has been put in place noting the renaming of the road that is one of the gateways to Lake George.
