Warren County Board of Supervisors allocates $1 million in

stimulus money for mental health treatment

The Warren County Board of Supervisors has voted to use $1 million of federal stimulus money to improve mental health services in Warren County as the board also prepares to seek applications from businesses that were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Board of Supervisors acted Friday, May 20th on 3 recommendations from the Warren County American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Advisory Committee.

The $1 million in funding is for use as grant money to recipients providing Warren County residents services in behavioral health care, including prevention and treatment programs, harm reduction, and supports for long-term recovery, as well as for behavioral health facilities and equipment, in the county. The use of this funding will be overseen by Warren County Community Services Board.

Said Robert York, Director of Warren County Director of Community Services: “The Office of Community Services and the Warren County Community Services Board would like to express our gratitude to the members of Warren County ARPA Committee and the Warren County Board of Supervisors for recognizing the behavioral health impacts of the pandemic, and for directing substantial resources to address this need.  We have seen a significant increase in demand for mental health and substance use services over the COVID-19 period, and we look forward to partnering with local provider agencies to develop and implement projects to improve the behavioral health and well-being of the residents of Warren County.”

In addition, $200,000 was appropriated for Adirondack Sports Complex in Queensbury, and the Board of Supervisors also designated that no more than 3% of ARPA funding be used for administrative costs for ARPA oversight.

In all, the Board of Supervisors has allocated $3.2 million of Warren County’s $12.4 million share of ARPA funding. Additional opportunities for businesses to apply for ARPA funding will be announced in the coming weeks.

Said Kevin Geraghty, Warren County Board of Supervisors Chairman and Warrensburg Town Supervisor: “This funding has been provided to Warren County to assist our residents and businesses in recovering from a wide variety of COVID-related impacts. We urge any organization or business that believes they qualify for some of this funding to review the application forms that the ARPA Advisory Committee will be releasing soon.”
