Rehabilitation Therapy
Westmount Health Facility is pleased to offer physical, occupational and speech/language therapy provided by Select Rehabilitation.
Select Rehabilitation, a longtime leader in rehabilitation medicine, provides therapists who use state-of-the-art techniques to help residents of Westmount regain function and improve their quality of life. In many cases, rehabilitation at Westmount is able to facilitate a resident’s return to home.
The team from Select Rehabilitation Rehabilitation Services department is composed of a physical therapist, an occupational therapist and a speech-language pathologist. They work with the Westmount nursing staff to evaluate residents on admission to determine their physical, occupational and speech/language therapy needs. This process helps to determine a care plan for each individual resident.
Select Rehabilitation’s therapeutic services benefit those residents who may have suffered a stroke or other neurologic event. In addition, residents who have had orthopedic surgery, or who suffer from a variety of other debilitating illnesses might benefit from therapy services. Our goal is to maximize the potential for independence, tailoring each care plan to the individual needs of the resident.
Select Rehabilitation’s physical therapists evaluate each resident’s balance, strength, safety and mobility to determine their needs. They assess to see if the resident would benefit from any assistive devices that would maximize a resident’s ability to ambulate and transfer. The therapist outlines a plan of care and works individually with each resident providing therapeutic exercise programs and activities to work toward achieving the resident’s highest level of function.
Residents receive occupational therapy to help regain the ability to perform their activities of daily living. Select Rehabilitation’s therapists use a variety of approaches to help residents learn how to care for themselves again. The occupational therapist can determine if the resident needs adaptive equipment or other devices that can make a difference in the resident’s ability to perform a task with minimal or no assistance.
Select Rehabilitation’s speech and language pathologists specialize in the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of residents who have difficulty swallowing, or who have speech or other communication needs.
