Description of the Sample Highway Papers Record

This record is a plain white map labeled "Map No. 1" with the number "5185" written along the left side. The map shows the boundaries of the land acquired for State Highway # 5185. The document also has a typed paragraph at the bottom of the map, which reads:

"State of New York Department of Highways
Land to be acquired for the
Wevertown - North Creek State Highway
Route No. 25 Warren County Sec. No 2

"All that piece or parcel of land situate in the town of Johnsburg, County of Warren, State of New York, for the Wevertown - North Creek State Highway as shown on the accompanying map and described as follows:

"Beginning at a point on the northerly boundary of land taking parcel # 13 of the Riverside - Wevertown State Highway No. 5088 61.6ft distant northeasterly measured on a line bearing N.41 degrees E. from sta. 165+00(?) of the survey base line of the proposed Wevertown - North Creek Highway 43ft distant northerly measured at right angles, from sta. 169+69 of the said base line, and 29ft distant northerly measured at right angles, from the said center line, thence easterly along the northerly boundary of the said existing highway 160 +/- to a point at the intersection of the said boundary with the northerly boundary of the said land taking parcel #15, said point being 37.4ft distant northerly measured at right angles, from sta.168+10 of the said base line and 36ft distant northerly measured at right angles to the back tangent (Highway No. 5088) at sta.168+00 and 17ft distant northerly measured radially from the said center line; thence along said northerly boundary of land taking parcel #13 N.75 degrees 45' E 50ft to the point of beginning; being 0.04 acres more or less.

"The above mentioned center line is a portion of the center line of the said proposed Wevertown - North Creek State Highway Route No. 25 Warren County Sec. No. 2 as shown on a map on file in the office of the Clerk of Warren County and is described as follows:

"Beginning at a point 19ft distant northerly measured at right angles, from sta. 168+04 of the said base line; thence curving to the right with a radius of 700ft, 63+/-ft, thence tangent to said curve N.87 degrees 10' W. 223+/-ft, thence curving to the left with a radius of 700ft, 85+/-ft thence tangent to said curve S. 85 degrees 59' N. 324ft; thence curving to the right with a radius of 2500ft, 232+/-ft; thence tangent to said curve N. 88 degrees 59' N. 415+/-ft; thence curving to the left with a radius of 3000ft, 500+/-ft; thence tangent to said curve S. 85 degrees 38' N.59+/-ft to sta.155+00 of the said base line."

In the bottom righthand corner of this map, there are four pieces of information. Three signatures, marked 'Computed By', 'Traced By' and 'Checked By', and a 'Date Completed' listed as November 23rd, 1911.
