Traffic Tickets
If you have been charged with a traffic violation other than Driving While Intoxicated or Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, you may be eligible for a reduction of your charge.
To apply for a possible reduction to your traffic ticket, send a written request to:
The Warren County District Attorney's Office
1340 State Route 9
Lake George, NY
12845
Please include:
- photocopy of the ticket(s)
- a self-addressed stamped envelope
- a driver’s abstract (To get a driver’s abstract contact your local Department of Motor Vehicles in person or if you are licensed in New York State, you can order an abstract of your driver record online)
- an accident report, if there was an accident involved in your case (Accident reports may be requested from the arresting agency or online through the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles)
When your letter is received by the District Attorney, complete with all of the enclosures, it will be reviewed by an Assistant District Attorney and a written offer will be mailed to you. Due to the large number of requests received by the District Attorney, it may take up to four weeks to receive a response. Please call the local court where the ticket is pending to get your appearance date adjourned.
When you receive an offer from the District Attorney, if you choose to accept the offer, sign the form and return it to the court. The address for the court is on the lower half of the traffic ticket. If you chose not to accept the offer, contact the court to schedule a trial. If you want to go to trial, be advised that the trial will be of the original charge, not the proposed reduction. Any further inquiries regarding your traffic ticket must be sent in writing. You may also listen to these instructions by calling (518) 761-6352.
